The Study on Care Worker"s Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention at Long-Term and Home Care Service Centers

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine differences in care worker¡¯s job satisfaction and turnover intention between long-term and home care service center. To achieve this research purpose, the questionnaire survey was conducted over 291 care workers who were employed at 61 nursing homes for the elderly in Jeollanamdo. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, care workers at home care service centers were found to have lower education levels, lower income levels and more frequent temporary job positions, and were more aged than care workers at long term service centers. And they showed lower level of work load. Second, job satisfaction was higher among care workers at home care service centers than among those at long-term service centers. Turnover intention was lower among care workers at home care service centers than those among long-term service centers. These results suggest that long-term care service center have different job conditions from home care service centers. and that this explained the differences of job satisfaction and turnover intention between care workers at long-term and at home care service centers.
